Trust Services

Message from the CEO

The current education landscape has never provided headteachers, governing bodies and trusts with greater a challenge. It is now more important than ever that schools work in partnership to enable the very best educational opportunities and services. By working together as a wider family of schools, we can share a joint approach to supporting our students, their families and our staff. The Trust is about us working collaboratively to provide the best education for the children of Furness. We are proud of the work we do, of our students’ accomplishments academically and personally, and of the incredible young people they become under our care. As a Trust, we place the needs of all our young people at the centre of everything that we do and we couldn’t be more proud of the service we provide for Barrow-in-Furness with the education we offer. It is my pleasure to be part of a thriving school community which fosters a culture that enables young people to develop and grow.

“With both Children attending Furness Education Trust Schools and being initially a governor, Chair of an Academy and eventually a trustee, I feel I have been a part of a fantastic journey seeing not only my children grow but also the Trust Schools grow in stature through sharing of knowledge and practice. The opportunities afforded to me over the years through the experiences I have been exposed to have really enabled me to grow both professionally and personally. I really would recommend getting involved to anyone.”

“I have found the site support service excellent and the Facilities Manager has been very supportive since I took over the role as acting Headteacher in September 2020.
The team was also very helpful during the summer term of 2020 when we were preparing the school for the safe reopening after the initial lockdown period.”

-Jackie Rushton, Headteacher at St James’ CofE Junior School

“Furness Education Trust catered for 140 people at our Summer 2021 basketball camp. The food provided was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient with no long queues despite the large numbers and the facilities at Furness Academy restaurant are excellent, arguably the best in town.”

-Chris Smith, Operations Director, Eurocamp residential basketball camps

“It has been my pleasure to be a Trustee of Furness Education Trust and its predecessor for the last 4 years. I am continually impressed by the input from the schools leadership team and the enthusiasm, knowledge and desire to educate of the Teachers and Staff who give up their time to come and brief us on the excellent work they are doing across the Trust. I believe that the Trust is well managed, has the development of the students at its heart and is innovative in its approach to education. The Trust is looking to sustain and further develop this into the future. I look forward to continuing to support the Trust, continuing to work with this excellent team and to help support the education of the children of Barrow.”

– Mark Woodham, Trustee
